DTC Check/Clear
- DTC CHECK (for Using a Techstream)
- Check DTCs.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the tester on.
- Select the following menu items: Chassis / ABS/ VSC/TRAC / Trouble Codes
Read the DTCs by following the prompts on the Techstream.
- Check DTCs.
- DTC CLEAR (for Using a Techstream)
- Clear DTCs.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the tester on.
- Select the following menu items: Chassis /ABS/VSC/TRAC/ Trouble Codes
Clear the DTCs by following the prompts on the Techstream.
- Clear DTCs.
- DTC CHECK (for Using a SST Check Wire)
- Check DTCs.
- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read 2-digit DTCs by observing the blinking of the ABS warning light and the VSC TRAC warning light on the combination meter.
HINT:
- If no code appears, inspect the ABS warning light circuit, VSC TRAC warning light circuit or TC and CG terminal circuit.TROUBLE AREA REFERENCE

VSC TRAC WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ONTC and CG terminal circuit TC AND CG TERMINAL CIRCUIT - As an example, the blinking patterns of the normal system indication and DTCs 11 and 21 are shown below.
- DTCs are explained in DTC chart (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).
- If no code appears, inspect the ABS warning light circuit, VSC TRAC warning light circuit or TC and CG terminal circuit.
- After completing the check, disconnect SST from terminals TC and CG of the DLC3, and turn the ignition switch off.
If 2 or more malfunctions are detected at the same time, the lowest numbered DTC is displayed first.

- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
- Check DTCs.
- DTC CLEAR (for Using a Techstream)
- Clear DTCs.
- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
SST 09843-18040
- Clear the DTCs stored in the ECU by depressing the brake pedal 8 times or more within 5 seconds.
- Check that the ABS warning light and VSC TRAC warning light blink in normal code pattern.
- Remove SST from the terminals of the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
HINT:
Clearing the DTCs cannot be performed by removing the battery cable.
- Clear DTCs.
- END OF DTC CHECK/CLEAR
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check that the ABS warning light and VSC TRAC warning light go off within approximately 3 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch off.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
