Window Defogger Switch: Inspection

2006 Toyota Matrix Base, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection
  1. INSPECT REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH ASSEMBLYΒ 
    1. Inspect the defogger switch.
      1. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 3. Check that the indicator light turns on. If the result is not as specified, replace the switch or bulb.

    2. Inspect the defogger timer operation.
      1. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
      2. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 6 through a 1.4 W test bulb.
      3. Turn the defogger switch ON. Check that:
        • The indicator light in the switch and test bulb turn on.
        • After approximately 12 to 18 minutes, the indicator light and test bulb turn off.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.
