Window Defogger System: Inspection
2005 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection
- INSPECT REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH ASSY
- Inspect the defogger switch.
- Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 3. Check that the indicator lamp turns on.
If the result is not as specified, replace the switch or bulb.
- Inspect the defogger timer operation.
- Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
- Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 6 through a 1.4 W test bulb.
- Turn the defogger switch ON. Check that:
- The indicator lamp in the switch and test bulb turn on.
- After approximately 12 to 18 minutes, the indicator lamp and test bulb turn off.

If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.
- Inspect the defogger switch.
- INSPECT DEFOGGER RELAY (Marking: DEFOG)
