Remove necessary components and disconnect electrical connector from ignition coil. Disconnect spark plug wire from ignition coil.
Using ohmmeter, check ignition coil primary resistance between ignition coil positive (+) and negative (-) terminals. These are the terminals that electrical connector was installed on. See Fig 1 and Fig 2. Replace ignition coil if primary resistance is not within specification. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE table.
Using ohmmeter, check ignition coil secondary resistance. See Fig 1 and Fig 2. Replace ignition coil if secondary resistance is not within specification. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE table. Reinstall connector on ignition coil.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

• You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.

• Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.

• The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.

• You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.

• You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
