Revision History:

  • 2023-12-01: Updated the UI operations according to the UI of the latest firmware.
  • 2023-06-08: Updated Li-Ion instructions: Vehicle software version 2023.12 or newer is required, and consolidated "contactors closed" and "contactors open" procedures.
  • 2023-03-27: Revised Li-Ion instructions. The most notable (but not the only) updates are as follows: Contactors closed - check for "VCFRONT_a402_LVBatteryCannotSupportVehicle" alert before initiating FW reinstallation. Contactors open - Check LV battery SoC and HV Battery BMS state before initiating the 2nd FW reinstallation.

NOTE: This procedure describes how to use the vehicle touchscreen to reinstall the currently installed vehicle software to all CAN ECUs; DO NOT use this procedure to update the car computer. The package will not be downloaded from Tesla servers.

When to See a Mechanic
