Floor Console: Removal

2000 Saturn SL2 Automatic, MP6SECTION Removal
  1. Disable SIR system. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. Apply parking brake lever.
  2. Remove window/mirror switch, if equipped. Exert pressure on rear of switch with hand. Pry up with blunt tool at rear retainer assembly tabs. See Figure . Lift window/mirror switch up and out.
  3. Disconnect electrical connector by locating retention tabs and disengaging connectors. See Figure . Adjust front seats to forward most position.
  4. Remove rear console screws. See Figure . Adjust front seats to rearward most position. Remove left and right lower trim panel extensions by pulling outward at dual lock locations. See Figure .
  5. Rotate panels outward to disengage hinges from console. Remove front console screws. See Figure . Move console rearward.
  6. Disengage retaining tabs and disconnect power outlet connector. See Figure . Press and place tape on gear selector button into clear shifter opening.
  7. Maneuver console beyond gear selector and parking brake by lifting rear of console. Remove console from vehicle. See Figure .
