2000 Saturn SLFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE
Steering Column: Removal
CAUTION:
Cover driver seat to protect seat trim.
- Remove SIR coil assembly. See SIR COIL ASSEMBLYΒ .
- Protect front of console from damage by steering column filler panel. Pull steering column filler panel assembly forward, and set down. Disconnect cable from filler panel. Pull hood release handle forward. Guide cable under hood release handle, and slide pin out. Remove steering column filler panel.
- Remove lever control switch assembly. See LEVER CONTROL SWITCH ASSEMBLYΒ . Disconnect ignition switch electrical connector at right steering column upper support bracket. On vehicles with A/T, disconnect park-lock cable from ignition module. On all models, disconnect pass-lock sensor connector from ignition module.
- Remove intermediate shaft-to-steering column pinch bolt, and remove shaft. Remove steering column lower and upper support bracket fasteners. Disconnect harness clamps from steering column, and remove column from vehicle.
