  1. Ensure battery cable terminals are clean and tight. Using carbon pile load tester, perform generator load test. See CARBON PILE LOAD GENERATOR TEST  . If generator did not pass generator load test, go to next step. If generator passed generator load test, check for drains by performing parasitic load test. See PARASITIC LOAD TEST  .
  2. Using scan tool, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTC P0562 or P0621 is set, go to appropriate DTC test. See DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  . If DTCs are not set, replace generator.
