Ignition Module/Passlock Sensor

2000 Saturn LS2 V6-3.0L VIN RSECTION Ignition Module/Passlock Sensor
IMPORTANT: Passlock sensor is part of ignition module.

REMOVAL




1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove lock cylinder bezel from steering column shroud by carefully prying with a thin bladed screwdriver.




3. Remove steering column upper shroud panel.
4. Insert key into ignition lock cylinder and rotate to START position. Then rotate cylinder back to the RUN position.




5. Depress the locking button on the top of ignition module assembly with a thin pick-type tool. Slide lock cylinder assembly from ignition module.




6. Remove shroud fasteners and remove steering column lower shroud panel.




7. Disconnect ignition switch connector and remove ignition switch from ignition module.




8. Remove park lock solenoid.




9. Remove turn signal/headlamp lever, windshield washer lever, and passlock sensor connector.







10. Remove ignition module shear bolts.
a. Use a light hammer and a chisel to bite into shear bolt head at a position offset from its center.
b. Tap the chisel to rotate the bolt and loosen it.
c. Repeat until bolt is loose enough to remove.




11. Remove ignition module assembly from the steering column.

INSTALLATION




1. Use new shear bolts to install ignition module assembly on steering column. Torque shear bolts until heads break off.
2. Install turn signal/headlamp lever, windshield washer lever, and passlock sensor connector.




3. Install park lock solenoid.

Torque: 1.5 N.m (14 in-lbs)




4. Install ignition switch and reconnect ignition switch connector.

Torque: 1.5 N.m (14 in-lbs)




5. Install shroud fasteners and steering column lower shroud panel.

Torque: 3 N.m (27 in-lbs)

IMPORTANT: Actuator blade within ignition module housing must be in the RUN position to install lock cylinder assembly. If rotated, replace it to the RUN position using needle nose pliers.




6. Insert key into ignition lock cylinder and install into ignition module.




7. Install steering column upper shroud panel.
8. Install lock cylinder bezel.
