Preliminary Inspection

  1. Check fuses, and replace as necessary. Visually inspect for broken or open wires. Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected.
  2. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs exist, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITION  table or appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  3. Ensure brakelight and cruise brake switches are installed and adjusted properly. See BRAKELIGHT & CRUISE BRAKE SWITCHES  under ADJUSTMENTS. Ensure center high mounted brakelight is operating.
  4. Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, perform self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  .
