Pcm Learn Mode

  1. The PCM will change transaxle shift points depending on driving conditions or changes in engine performance. If the PCM memory or vehicle battery is disconnected, the PCM must relearn the current operating parameters.
  2. Perform the following steps on a clear highway. Place mode select switch (located on center console) in NORMAL. With transaxle at normal operating temperature, place gear selector in "D4".
  3. Open throttle about 30 percent. Perform 10 complete 1-2, 2-3 to 3-4 upshifts.
  4. While coasting at 35 MPH (DOHC engine) or 40 MPH (SOHC engine), open throttle halfway to create a 4-3 downshift. Repeat this 5 times.
  5. Move gear selector to "D3". While coasting at 20 MPH (DOHC engine) or 30 MPH (SOHC engine), open throttle 75 percent to create a 3-2 downshift. Repeat this 5 times.
