Code 41 - Vehicle Speed Sensor Input Not Present: Description

1992 Saturn SL1 AutomaticSECTION Description

When vehicle speed is greater than 3 MPH, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) produces 16 electrical pulses per turbine shaft revolution. PCM detects vehicle speed by counting pulses from VSS. PCM sets code 41 if VSS input is zero, turbine speed is greater than 1400 RPM and throttle is held at a moderate opening.
