Steering Columns: Description

1982 Porsche 928 Automatic TransSECTION Description
NOTE: Steering column removal and installation information for 928 and 944 is not available.

The steering column assemblies on all Porsche models are essentially the same, consisting of a 3-piece, energy absorbing unit, with the 3 pieces connected by 2 universal joints.

The offset design of the steering shaft and the collapsible element in the steering column provide the energy absorbing protection for the driver.

An energy absorbing steering wheel with rebound chambers and padded hub cover provides additional protection.
