Seats: Description and Operation
Power Seats System Description and Operation
Power Seat System Components
The power seat system consists of the following components:
* Driver seat adjuster switch-Controls the up, down, and recline operation of the drivers seat
* Driver seat horizontal motor-Moves the seat rearward and forward
* Driver seat vertical motor-Moves the seat up and down
* Driver seat horizontal motor-Moves the seat back to the recline rearward/forward position
* PWR SEAT 30 A circuit breaker-Located in the underhood fuse block, and provides battery positive voltage to the power seat switch at all times
Power Seat System Controls
The power seat system will operate any time the ignition is the ACC or RUN position. The power seat switch controls the 3 bi-directional motors in all up/down, forward/rearward and recline positions.
Power Seat Motor Operation
Each seat motor is reversible. The direction the seat or seat back travel is dependent upon the polarity of the supply voltage. By reversing polarity of the supply voltage the motor will move in one of its respective directions.
Power Seat Operation
Battery voltage is supplied to the driver seat adjuster switch through the battery positive voltage circuit from the 30 A circuit breaker. The driver seat adjuster switch receives constant ground from G 301. All of the seat motor control circuits are connected to ground through the normally closed contacts of the driver seat adjuster switch. When a driver seat adjuster switch is placed in any position other than normally closed (Neutral), the seat motor control circuit is switched from ground to 12 volts and the motor moves the seat in the requested direction. When the driver seat adjuster switch is released all motor control circuits return to normally closed, or ground.
