DTC B2202, Driver's Door Unlock Circuit (Short To Ground Or Open): Testing

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, 4D SedanSECTION Testing

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKΒ  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM 32-pin connector C1. Turn ignition on. Using test light, backprobe between ground and BCM harness connector C1 terminal C14 (Light Green wire). Press door lock. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 4).
  3. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If DTC B2202 sets again, go to next step. If DTC B2202 does not set again, system is operating properly.
  4. Using test light, backprobe between battery voltage and BCM harness connector C1 terminal C14 (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6).
  5. Leave test light connected as specified in step 4). Remove door lock relay (located behind glove box, mounted to cross car beam). If test light illuminates, go to step 10). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 7).
  6. Using test light, backprobe between ground and door lock relay harness connector terminal C2 (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 11). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8).
  7. Replace door lock relay. Go to step 12).
  8. Using test light, backprobe between ground and door lock relay harness connector terminal A1 (Orange wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 7). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 13).
  9. Turn ignition off. Replace BCM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATIONΒ  . Reprogram BCM. See BCM PROGRAMMING. Go to step 12).
  10. Repair short to ground in Light Green wire between door lock relay and BCM connector C1. Go to step 12).
  11. Repair poor connection or open in Light Green wire between door lock relay and BCM connector C1. Go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKΒ  .
  13. Repair poor connection or open in Orange wire between BCM connector C3 and instrument panel fuse block. Go to step 12).
