DTC B3127: Driver's Door Unlock Circuit (Short To Ground Or Open): Testing

1998 Oldsmobile Achieva 3.1 M, 4T40E/MN4SECTION Testing

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM Pink 32-pin connector C1. Turn ignition on. Connect a test light between BCM harness connector C1 terminal C14 (Light Green wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . See Figure . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If DTC B3127 is set, go to step  9 . If DTC B3127 is not set, go to step  13 .
  4. Connect test light between battery voltage and BCM harness connector C1 terminal C14 (Light Green wire). If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step  6 .
  5. Leave test light connected as specified in previous step. Remove door lock relay. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . If test light comes on, go to step  10 . If test light does not come on, go to step  7 .
  6. Connect test light between door lock relay harness connector terminal C2 (Light Green wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to step  11 . If test light does not come on, go to step  8 .
  7. Replace door lock relay. Go to step  14 .
  8. Connect test light between door lock relay harness connector terminal A1 (Orange wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to step  7 . If test light does not come on, go to step  12 .
  9. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reprogram BCM. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. Go to step  14 .
  10. Repair short to ground in Light Green wire between door lock relay and BCM connector C1. Go to step  14 .
  11. Repair poor connection or open in Light Green wire between door lock relay and BCM connector C1. Go to step  14 .
  12. Repair poor connection or open in Orange wire between door lock relay and BCM connector C3. Go to step  14 .
  13. System is operating properly at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . After any repairs are made, go to next step.
  14. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
