Hot - Stop Engine
Coolant Sensor Circuit:
DESCRIPTION:
The ECM provides 5.0 volts to the coolant temperature sensor circuit. The ECM supplies and internally monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin C10. The coolant temperature sensor is a thermistor, so as the coolant temperature goes from cold to hot, the sensor's resistance goes from high to low, and the voltage level the ECM detects at pin C10 goes from high to low. Every 1.0 second the BCM checks the ECM for the coolant temperature. If the failure conditions for the flashing coolant gauge exist for more than 240.0 seconds, or the calculated coolant temperature reaches 135°C and/or all other failure conditions have been met, the IPC will cause the coolant temperature gauge bars to flash. The BCM will send the "HOT STOP ENGINE" message to the IPC and will activate the fast paced chime on the chime module.
TEST CONDITIONS:
NONE.
FAILURE CONDITIONS:
1. Conditions for "Flashing Coolant Gauge" are met for greater than 240.0 seconds.
2. Engine is running.
3. Coolant temperature is in a valid range.
4. Coolant temperature is greater than 135°C.
5. Coolant temperature is greater than 126°C and coolant level is low.
6. I-terminal "ON" generator failure detected.
ACTION TAKEN:
1. Display the "HOT STOP ENGINE" message on the IPC.
2. Flash the coolant temperature gauge bars.
3. Activate the fast paced chime of the chime module.
