Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

2007 Mini Cooper Convertible (R52) L4-1.6L (W10)SECTION Service and Repair



12 14 600 - Replacing knock sensor





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Switch off ignition
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Check stored fault messages





Note:
R50 only:
Remove intake air manifold Service and Repair.
R53 only:
Remove exhaust turbocharger.





Unlock and disconnect knock sensor plug connection.
Release knock sensor screw, remove knock sensor (1).

Installation:
Clean contact surface of knock sensors.

Tightening torque 12 14 1AZ.

Observe position of knock sensor in relation to engine block.
At angle of 20° to the perpendicular.





Note:
Now clear the fault memory.
