1993 Mercedes Benz 400EFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

Infrared Remote Control Module (N54), Chassis 124.06 Only (Up To 2/96)

The control module is attached under right rear seat bench or individual rear seat. See Fig 1 . The electrical connection is equipped with a removal and insertion aid. To remove, press locking catch and pull up on cable side. When replacing control module or transmitter, it is essential to specify locking mechanism number since both parts are matched.

NOTE: On vehicles produced for Germany (D) as of 3/94 and vehicles with system code 885, infrared remote control module as well as pneumatic control module with logic circuit (SN 1, SN 2) from series 202 are installed. Desynchronization is also possible with pulse counter and with hand-held tester. This means that is only necessary to replace mechanical lock when one of transmitter keys is lost. Then it is necessary to resynchronize infrared remote control for central locking system. See SYNCHRONIZING INFRARED REMOTE CONTROL SIGNALΒ  under PROGRAMMING.
