Body Control Module (BCM) Removal/Installation: MTX

2011 Mazda 3 Mazdaspeed, 2.3 3SECTION MTX

  1. Perform the BCM configuration when replacing it. (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATIONΒ .)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the following parts:
    1. Front scuff plate (LH) (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Front side trim (LH) (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Shift knob (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Console (See CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Set the hood release lever out of the way. (See HOOD LATCH AND RELEASE LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Remove the lower panel, (driver-side) (See LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Remove the starter cut relay, (with advanced keyless entry and push button start system) (see STARTER CUT RELAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MTX] .)
  7. Remove the nuts shown in the illustration.

  8. Pry off the lock device of the clip while pressing the tab in the position shown in the illustration.

  9. Rotate the clip in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration.

  10. Remove the clip by pulling it in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration.

  11. Disconnect the connector shown in the illustration.

  12. While pressing the tab shown in the illustration, pull the bracket in the direction of the arrow and remove it.
  13. Remove the BCM.
  14. Install in the reverse order of removal.
