Bulletin No: 01-019/09

Last Issued: 05/29/2009

Subject:
SERVICE CAUTIONS FOR PCM REPROGRAMMING

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2009 Mazda6 3.7L vehicles with produced before Oct. 17, 2008

DESCRIPTION

Due to a purge solenoid valve logic change, the PCM software has been modified and a diode (A) has been added to the harness.

When performing a PCM reprogramming on a vehicle built before Oct. 17, 2008 (without a diode), the (example only shown) screen may appear in the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS).

Install a short cord (diode) to the harness according to Service Bulletin 01-018/09 (Purge Valve Contact / Hard Rattle Noise) issued 05/29/09, then reprogram the PCM.

CAUTION:
Failure to install a short cord (diode) will cause a functional concern. It is the dealer's responsibility to follow the service bulletin and M-MDS instructions.
