MIL ON WITH DTC P2135 AND/OR IDLE FLUCTUATION

BULLETIN NOTE
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2009-2011 Mazda6 3.7L vehicles with VINS lower than 1YVHZ****B*M03985 (produced before Oct. 18, 2010)
2007-2010 CX-9 vehicles with VINS lower than JM3TB****A*300004 (produced before Aug. 31, 2010)

DESCRIPTION

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPAIR PROCEDURE A (DTC P2135 is stored in PCM memory)
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Record audio pre-sets.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
4. Disconnect the throttle body and PCM electrical connectors. Refer to MS3 online or Wiring Diagram:
^ Mazda6 - section 0140-2f CONTROL SYSTEM (MZI-3.7)
^ CX-9 - section 0140-g CONTROL SYSTEM
5. Use ohmmeter and check for short or open circuit between:
^ Mazda6 - throttle body connector 0140-222 and PCM connector 0140-201B.
^ CX-9-throttle connector 0140-22 and PCM connector 0140-01B.
6. Is there a problem with the wiring harness?
^ Yes - repair wiring harness and then proceed to Step 7.
^ No - Proceed to step 7.
7. Replace the throttle body and gasket per M53 online or Workshop Manual:
^ Mazda6 - section 01-13B INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7]
^ CX-9 - section 01-13 INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7]
8. Reconnect the throttle body and PCM electrical connectors.
9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
10. Set clock and audio pre-sets.
11. If equipped with Auto-Open/Close Windows, proceed to "POWER WINDOW INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE".
12. If equipped with Power Liftgate (CX-9 Only), proceed to POWER LIFTGATE INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE".
13. Verify repair.
REPAIR PROCEDURE B (DTC P2135 is NOT stored in PCM memory)

POWER WINDOW INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Press the switch of each window and fully open the door glass.
3. Pull the switch of each window to the manual-up position to fully close the door glass, and keep holding the switch up at the position for approximately 2 seconds.
POWER LIFTGATE INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
1. Park on level ground.
^ If liftgate is open, fully close liftgate manually, then unlock liftgate and all doors using transmitter or door lock switch.
^ If liftgate is closed, unlock liftgate and all doors using transmitter or door lock switch, then open and close liftgate manually.
2. Press and hold power liftgate switch or power liftgate button on transmitter to fully open the liftgate.
3. Press and hold power liftgate switch or power liftgate button on transmitter again to fully close the liftgate.
4. Liftgate Initialization Procedure is complete.
