NOTE:

By disabling the unlimited key mode with a random 8-digit number, the previous access code no longer operates the vehicle.

From the IDS or equivalent tester, follow the on-screen instructions to ENTER SECURITY ACCESS. See ANTI-THEFT SECURITY ACCESS ,
Select: "unlimited key mode OFF "and press the tick mark.
Select: "Ignition Key Code Erase" and press the tick mark.
Disconnect the IDS or equivalent tester and turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Insert the first PATS key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the key to the ON position for 3 seconds.
Remove the first PATS key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Insert the next PATS key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the key to the ON position for 3 seconds.
NOTE:
- With the unlimited key mode turned off, a maximum of 8 keys can be programmed into the instrument cluster using the 09-40 KEY PROGRAMMING USING TWO PROGRAMMED KEYS, page 09-40-5 procedure. The PID SPAREKEY must be enabled.
If it is desired to program additional key(s), See KEY PROGRAMMING USING TWO PROGRAMMED KEYS , for each additional key that needs to be programmed. The PID SPAREKEY must be enabled.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

• You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.

• Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.

• The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.

• You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.

• You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
