The illuminated entry feature (GEM only) activates the interior lamps.
The GEM illuminates the interior lamps when an unlock signal is received from the RAP module.
Illuminated entry inputs are:
- RAP illuminated entry request (grounded pulse of varying length).
- Ignition in RUN (battery voltage on both the RUN and RUN/ACC inputs).
Illuminated entry output is:
- Interior lamp relay coil output.
Grounded when activated.
Open circuit when deactivated.
The RAP module sends a signal to the GEM to turn the illuminated entry on or off.
Illuminated entry will be canceled if:
- 25 seconds have elapsed since the illuminated entry feature was activated and the courtesy lamp feature is not activated.
- If the GEM receives a request from the RAP and the courtesy lamp feature is not activated.
- If the ignition is in the RUN or START position and the courtesy lamp feature is not activated.
Illuminated entry inputs are:
Ignition switch in the key-in, ACCY and RUN positions.
RAP module illuminated entry request.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

• You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.

• Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.

• The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.

• You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.

• You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
