2001 Mazda MPV ESFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

Description & Operation: Introduction

Vehicles are equipped with a electronically controlled shift interlock system. Shift interlock system prevents gearshift lever from being moved from "P" position unless brake pedal is depressed. In case of a malfunction, gearshift lever can be released by depressing shift interlock emergency override button located near gearshift lever. System consists of brakelight switch, shift lock actuator, park position switch and shift interlock override button. For Miata and Millenia models, see Fig 1 and Fig 2 . System is controlled by shift lock control unit incorporated in shift lock actuator.
