1991 Mazda 929 BaseSECTION System Inspection (SOHC)

Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Run engine at idle. Remove protector from shutter valve actuator. Verify shutter valve actuator rod is extended at idle. Gradually increase engine speed and verify rod retracts into shutter valve actuator at engine speeds greater than 3700 RPM. Continue to increase engine speed and verify rod extends at speeds greater than 5750 RPM. See Figure . If necessary, check following components.
