Through various sensors, the control unit detects the following: Engine speed, intake manifold vacuum, coolant temperature, oxygen concentration in exhaust system, throttle opening, in-gear position and air conditioner ON/OFF condition.

The control unit governs the operation of the feedback-type carburetor, EGR system, and air injection system.
