Monitor Drive Pattern
- TEST MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN FOR ECTΒ CAUTION: Perform this drive pattern on a level surface and strictly observe the posted speed limits and traffic laws while driving.
HINT:
Performing this drive pattern is one method to simulate the ECT's malfunction detection conditions. The DTCs may not be detected through ordinary, everyday driving. Also, DTCs may not be detected through this drive pattern.
- Preparation for driving
- Warm up the engine sufficiently (engine coolant temperature is 60Β°C (140Β°F) or higher).
- Drive the vehicle when the atmospheric temperature is -10Β°C (14Β°F) or higher. Malfunctions are not detected when the atmospheric temperature is less than -10Β°C (14Β°F).
- Drive pattern
- Drive the vehicle through all the gears.
Stop β 1st β 2nd β 3rd β 4th β 5th β 6th β 6th (lock-up ON) β 7th β 7th (lock-up ON) β 8th β 8th (lock-up ON).
- Perform the engine brake test with the shift lever on S. While driving in the 6 (S) position and 6th gear lock-up, shift into the "-" position and downshift from 8th β 7th, 7th β 6th, 6th β 5th, 5th β 4th, 4th β 3rd, 3rd β 2nd and 2nd β 1st. Check that the engine brake operates properly when every down-shift takes place.
- Repeat the above drive pattern 3 times or more.NOTE:
- When using the Techstream, the monitor status can be checked in the Data List (see DATA LIST / ACTIVE TESTΒ ).
- In the event that the drive pattern must be interrupted (due to traffic conditions or other factors), the drive pattern can be resumed and, in most cases, the monitor can be completed.
HINT:
*: Drive at such a speed in the uppermost gear as to engage lock-up. The vehicle can be driven at a speed lower than the speed shown in the above diagram under the lock-up condition.
NOTE: It is necessary to drive the vehicle for approximately 30 minutes to detect DTC P0711 (transmission fluid temperature sensor "A" performance).
- Drive the vehicle through all the gears.
