Shift Lock System: Inspection
- INSPECT KEY INTER LOCK SOLENOID
- Measure the resistance of the solenoid.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition 5 (SLS+) - 4 (SLS-) 20 to 27 Ω If the result is not as specified, replace the solenoid.
- Apply positive (+) battery voltage between the terminals. Check that sounds are emitted from the operating solenoid.
If sounds are not emitted, replace the solenoid.
HINT:
If sounds are not emitted from the solenoid, the solenoid is not operating.
- Measure the resistance of the solenoid.
- INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH
- Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Shift Lever Position Specified Condition 3 (P1) - 2 (P) P (shift lock release button is not pushed Below 1 Ω 3 (P1) - 2 (P) P (shift lock release button is pushed Below 1 Ω 1 (P2) - 2 (P) R, N, D, 2, L Below 1 Ω If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.
- Measure the resistance of the switch.
- INSPECT KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID
- Measure the resistance of the solenoid.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition 1 (KLS-) - 2 (KLS+) 12 to 17 Ω If the result is not as specified, replace the key interlock solenoid.
- Connect the battery's positive (+) terminal to terminal 2 (KLS+) and the battery's negative (-) terminal to terminal 1 (KLS-). Check that sounds are emitted from the operating solenoid. If sounds are not emitted, replace the solenoid.
HINT:
If sounds are not emitted from the solenoid, the solenoid is not operating.
- Measure the resistance of the solenoid.
