Inspection Procedure

NOTE: The Intelligent tester or Techstream is required to conduct the following diagnostic troubleshooting procedure.

HINT:

  • Using the Intelligent tester or Techstream monitor results enables the EVAP (Evaporative Emission) system to be confirmed.
  • Read freeze frame data using the Intelligent tester or Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
  1. CONFIRM DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 10 seconds.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 10 seconds.
    4. Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the tester ON.
    6. Enter the following menus:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
      2. Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    7. Confirm DTCs and freeze frame data.

      If any EVAP system DTCs are set, the malfunctioning area can be determined using the table below.
