Spark Plug: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the ignition coil(s). Refer to COIL, IGNITION, REMOVALΒ .

  3. Prior to removing the spark plug, spray compressed air into the cylinder head cover opening (1). This will help prevent foreign material from entering the combustion chamber.

  4. Remove the spark plug (1) from the cylinder head using a quality thin wall socket with a rubber or foam insert.
