Solenoid, Variable Valve Timing: Removal

2023 Jeep Cherokee TrailhawkSECTION Removal
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the top engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the air cleaner body cover and clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL .

  4. Disconnect the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid wire harness connector (1).

  5. Remove the bolts (2) and the VVT solenoid (1).

  6. If required, remove the right isolator to engine mount bracket bolt (2) to gain access to the lower VVT solenoid bolt (1).

  7. Remove the gasket (1).
