Software Update Instructions
1. Open the hood and connect a battery charger to the vehicle.

2. Inspect the lower right hand corner of the radio to determine the sales code of the radio. The non-navigation radio sales code is "REN" and the navigation radio sales code is "RER" (Figure 1).
3. Insert the key and turn the ignition to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.

Turn all accessories off. TURN THE RADIO ON (Figure 1).
4. Press the upper left "OPEN/CLOSE" button on the radio (Figure 1).
5. Insert the correct update disc, as determined in Step 2 of this procedure, into the radio.
6. Compare the CURRENT RADIO SOFTWARE number with the UPDATE CD
SOFTWARE number (Figure 1).
> If the CURRENT RADIO SOFTWARE number is the same or higher than the UPDATE CD SOFTWARE number, the radio does not require the update.
Select "No" on the radio screen face. Continue to Step 10.
> If the CURRENT RADIO SOFTWARE number is lower than the UPDATE
CD SOFTWARE number, the radio requires the update. Continue to Step 7.
7. Select "Yes" on the radio screen face. The radio will perform the update without any further user input.
CAUTION:
ONCE THE UPDATE HAS BEGUN, LEAVE THE IGNITION IN THE ON POSITION AND DO NOT TOUCH THE RADIO!


8. Several different screens will appear during the update process which may take about 5-12 minutes. Once the update is complete, the radio will return to the normal user screens. Wait for the radio to re-read the disc and display one of the 2 screens shown (Figures 2 and 3).
NOTE:
Figure 2 will be displayed on vehicles with a non-navigation radio. Figure 3 will be displayed on vehicles with a navigation radio.
9. The current radio software number will now match the update CD software number. Select "No" on the radio screen face to return the radio to the normal user screens.
10. Press the upper left "OPEN/CLOSE" button on the radio to eject the disc. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button a second time to close the radio screen. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
11. Remove the battery charger from the vehicle and close the hood.
