1998 Jaguar XJRFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

KICKDOWN Switch

  1. Connect scan tool to vehicle. Navigate through CURRENT POWERTRAIN DATA to PID 120F (pedal demand).
  2. Push the accelerator pedal until light contact is made with the kickdown switch ensuring that contact with the switch does not result in switch movement.
  3. If PID value indicated on the scan tool is 3.66-3.76 volts (2F9 + or - A hex), no further action is required. If the value indicated is not 3.66-3.76 volts (2F9 + or - A hex), go to next step.
  4. Pull the carpet from around the kickdown switch and disconnect the kickdown switch harness connector to avoid twisting the harness as the switch is rotated. See Fig 1 .
  5. Adjust the switch to attain the proper scan tool reading. Reconnect the kickdown switch harness connector and verify the setting.
