1998 Jaguar XJ8 BaseFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

Throttle Cable

NOTE: This procedure is only relevant when fitting a NEW cable.
  1. Install throttle cable and adjust the lock nuts to achieve the specified gap between the quadrant and throttle stop. See Fig 1 . Tighten the lock nut without altering the setting or introducing twist into the cable.
  2. Operate the throttle pedal through full range of travel for a minimum of 20 (twenty) cycles to condition the cable.
  3. Check the quadrant/stop relationship to ensure contact without slack or tension. Under no circumstances may the quadrant be held clear of the throttle stop by cable tension. Adjust the lock nuts to attain proper setting. See Fig 2 .
