Abs Main Relay Circuit
- Ensure ignition is off. Connect DVOM between terminals No. 1 and 3 of ABS ECU connector. If continuity exists, go to step 3). If continuity does not exist, remove main relay from connector.
- Check continuity of Red/Yellow wire between terminal No. 3 of ABS ECU connector and terminal No. 30 of main relay connector. If continuity does not exist, repair open Red/Yellow wire. If continuity exists, check continuity of Black wire between terminal No. 87a of main relay and ground. If continuity exists, replace main relay. If continuity does not exist, repair open Black wire.
- Check for continuity between terminals No. 1 and 20 of ABS ECU connector. If continuity exists, go to step 5). If continuity does not exist, remove main relay. Check continuity of Red/Yellow wire between terminal No. 20 of ABS ECU connector and terminal No. 30 of relay connector.
- If continuity does not exist, repair open Red/Yellow wire. If continuity exists, check continuity of Black wire between ground and terminal No. 87a of main relay connector. If continuity does not exist, repair open Black wire. If continuity exists, replace main relay.
- Ensure ignition is off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminals No. 8 and 1 of ABS ECU connector. If resistance is 50-100 ohms, go to step 7). If resistance is not 50-100 ohms, remove main relay from connector. Check continuity of Yellow/Green wire between terminal No. 8 of ABS ECU connector and terminal No. 86 of main relay connector. If continuity does not exist, repair open Yellow/Green wire.
- If continuity exists, check for continuity in Black wire between terminal No. 85 of main relay connector and ground. If continuity does not exist, repair open Black wire. If continuity exists, reinstall main relay and go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 2 and 8 of ABS ECU. Turn ignition on. Connect DVOM between terminals No. 1 and 3 of ABS ECU connector. Voltage should be more than 10 volts. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 9). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove jumper wire. Remove main relay from connector. Check 30-amp ABS fuse located in ABS fuse block. Replace fuse as necessary. If fuse is okay, check continuity of Brown/Green wire between main relay connector and 30-amp ABS fuse. If continuity exists, main relay circuit is okay. If continuity does not exist, repair open Brown/Green wire.
- With jumper wire still attached between terminals No. 2 and 8 of ABS ECU and ignition on, connect DVOM between terminals No. 1 and 20 of ABS ECU connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, main relay circuit is okay. If voltage is less than 10 volts and wiring is okay, replace main relay.
