No-Load Test

2002 Hyundai XG350 BaseSECTION No-Load Test
  1. Place starter in soft-jaw vise. Rotate carbon pile rheostat to OFF position. Connect fully charged 12-volt battery, switch, voltmeter (15-volt scale), ammeter (100-amp scale), and carbon pile rheostat as shown in illustration. See Fig 1 . Adjust carbon pile rheostat until voltmeter indicates 11.0-11.5 volts.
  2. Connect remote starter switch between solenoid terminals "B" and "S". Activate remote switch (maximum 10 seconds), and note reading on ammeter. Ensure starter rotates smoothly and maximum amperage draw is within specification. See STARTER NO-LOAD SPECIFICATIONSΒ  table. If starter does not test as specified, replace starter.
