Field Coil Test

2002 Hyundai Accent GL, AutomaticSECTION Field Coil Test
  1. Check field coil continuity by connecting ohmmeter probes to field coil positive terminal and brush holder. See Fig 1 Replace field coil if continuity does not exist (open circuit).
  2. Check for grounded field coil by placing one ohmmeter probe on starter housing and other probe on field coil positive terminal. See Fig 2 If continuity is present, field coil is grounded and must be replaced.
