Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
A/C Clutch
When A/C switch is turned while engine is at idle, the ISC servo is commanded to increase idle speed. To prevent A/C compressor clutch switching on before idle speed has increased, the ECU briefly opens the A/C relay circuit.
On automatic transmission models, during acceleration when throttle valve opening is 65 degrees or more, A/C power relay circuit is cut-off for approximately 5 seconds to aid acceleration.
