Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Creep Aid System (CAS) Features
This system prevents the vehicle from rolling forward or backward on a gentle hill during which the driver releases the brake pedal by controlling the brake pressure.
When the VSA modulator control unit receives a CAS activation request signal from the PCM, the system assists the driver to get the vehicle started by holding the brake pressure. This control is done not only on hills, but also on level roads. When the driver lifts their foot off the brake pedal to get the vehicle started, the brake switch is turned off, and then the brake pressure is held by operating the TCS valve and the ESV valve.
CAS may not be activated under the following conditions.
- When in N or P range.
- When in a strong creep state (In R range, with low water temperature, etc.)
- When the driver does not press the brake strongly enough upon stopping the vehicle, or when the driver releases the brake pedal gradually upon starting the vehicle.
