Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Idle Speed (6.5L Diesel)
Idle speed is adjustable on 6.5L diesel (L57) only. The L57 uses mechanical fuel injection. All others use electronic fuel injection in which PCM controls all fuel delivery modes based on inputs from AAP, ECT and BARO sensors. Adjust idle speed on L57 by turning low idle speed screw on injection pump. See Fig 1. Adjust to curb idle speed specification shown on emission control information label.
