Test Procedure
- DP1 CHECK FOR SOBDMC AND PCM DTCS
- Carry out the SOBDMC self-test.
- Carry out the PCM self-test.
Are any SOBDMC or PCM DTCs present?
Yes No For DTCs P0C2F or P1934, GO to DP2.
For all others, DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. DIAGNOSE the next DTC. GO to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS .RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS for further direction. - DP2 CHECK FOR CORRECT TIRE SIZE AND INFLATION
- Verify the correct tire size and inflation.
Are the tire size and inflation OK?
Yes No GO to DP3. REPAIR as necessary.
Clear the PCM DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. - DP3 CHECK FOR ABS DTCS
- Check the ABS module for wheel speed sensor DTCs.
Are any ABS DTC present?
Yes No REFER to the appropriate Anti-Lock Brake System And Stability Control article, to diagnose the wheel speed sensor DTCs. GO to DP4. - DP4 CHECK FOR CORRECT TRACTION MOTOR RPM DURING THE ROAD TEST
- Access the freeze frame data (if available) and record the DTC conditions.
- Access the SOBDMC and monitor the M_SPEED (RPM) PID.
- Access the SOBDMC and monitor the VSS (SPD) PID.
- Road test the vehicle. Test drive using freeze frame data conditions (if available).

Yes No GO to DP5. GO to PINPOINT TEST TP . - DP5 CHECK FOR CORRECT GENERATOR RPM
- Place the gear selector lever in PARK.
- Start the engine using the engine running diagnostic mode. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC MODES .
- Access the SOBDMC and monitor the G_SPEED (RPM) PID.
- Access the SOBDMC and monitor the RPM_TCM (RPM) PID.
Engine RPM Generator Motor RPM 0 0 800 2, 715 1, 000 3, 394 1, 200 4, 073 1, 400 4, 752 1, 600 5, 430 1, 800 6, 109 2, 000 6, 788 Does the generator RPM correspond with the engine RPM?
Yes No For DTC P0C2F, GO to PINPOINT TEST JD . GO to PINPOINT TEST TO . For all others, GO to DP6. - DP6 CLEAR PCM DTCS
- Clear the PCM DTCs.
- Road test the vehicle.
- Carry out the PCM self-test.
Are any DTCs present?
Yes No DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. DIAGNOSE the next DTC. GO to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS . The system is operating correctly at this time.
