Pinpoint Test PB: Event Notification Signal (Equipped With BCM-C And Fuel Pump Control Module): Notes

Refer to appropriate Supplemental Restraint System in OEM Wiring Diagrams article, for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The RCM transmits an event notification signal which communicates crash status and SRS deployment status to the BCM. When the BCM receives an event notification signal which indicates a crash, it initiates fuel cut-off.

The RCM monitors the event notification signal circuit for the following faults:

  • Short to voltage
  • Short to voltage
  • Short to ground
  • Open circuit

If a fault is detected, the RCM stores DTC B11D8:12 or B11D8:14 in memory. The airbag warning indicator does not illuminate if B11D8:12 or B11D8:14 is set.

PPT P RCM DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
B11D8:12 Restraint Event Notification: Circuit Short to Battery Sets when the RCM senses a short to voltage from the event notification signal circuit for more than 12 seconds.
B11D8:14 Restraint Event Notification: Circuit Short to Ground or Open Sets when the RCM senses a short to ground or an open from the event notification signal circuit for more than 12 seconds.

Possible Causes

  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • BCM

WARNING: Incorrect repair techniques or actions can cause an accidental SRS deployment. Never compromise or depart from these instructions. Failure to precisely follow all instructions could result in serious personal injury from an accidental deployment.
