- B = 2.0L In-Line 4-Cylinder (Zetec).
- D = 2.3L In-Line 4-Cylinder, EFI, Gas.
- E = 4.0L V6 SOHC, EFI. (Explorer, Explorer Sport, Explorer Sport Trac, Mountaineer and Ranger).
- E = 5.4L V8 SOHC, EFI (Essex), Gas (Expedition and Navigator).
- F = 7.3L V8, Turbo-Diesel.
- H = 4.6L V8, DOHC, EFI.
- K = 4.0L V6 SOHC, EFI, Flex-Fuel.
- L = 5.4L V8, SOHC, EFI, Gas.
- M = 5.4L V8, SOHC, Natural Gas.
- R = 5.4L 4V V8, DOHC, EFI, Gas (Blackwood & Navigator Only).
- S = 6.8L V10, SOHC, EFI, Gas.
- T = 3.3L V6 SOHC, Gas.
- U = 3.0L (OHV), V6 EFI.
- V = 3.0L (OHV), V6 EFI, Flex-Fuel.
- W = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 (Romeo) EFI, Gasoline.
- X = 4.6L (SOHC), V8 EFI.
- Z = 5.4L V8 (F150 Only), Or 6.8L V10, (F450-550 Only) Bi-Fuel.
