Position the valve spring and the valve spring retainers.
Install the special tool between the valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.

Use the special tool to compress the valve spring. Install the valve spring retainer keys.

Remove the special tools.
Install the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWER .
Install the spark plugs. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION .

WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM .

If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

• You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.

• Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.

• The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.

• You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.

• You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
