1993 Ford Probe Base, AutomaticFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

Continuous Test

  1. Ensure ABS warning light flashes more than once every 10 seconds. Clear all trouble codes from memory. See CLEARING TROUBLE CODESΒ  under DIAGNOSIS. Perform equipment hookup as outlined in QUICK TEST QT-5. Start engine. Working in short sections along wiring from sensor to dash panel and to ABS control module, tap, move and wiggle suspect sensor and/or harness. If necessary, drive vehicle to re-create intermittent failure and to allow control unit to sense and record trouble codes.
  2. If light illuminates constantly or audible signal sounds, record voltmeter or Super Star II tester trouble codes and refer to CODE IDENTIFICATION CHARTΒ  . See Figure . Only service trouble codes created in this test. If light is on but there are no voltmeter or Super Star II Tester trouble codes, system is operating normally.
  3. If intermittent fault cannot be re-created, disconnect suspect sensor or control unit from harness. Visually inspect all terminals for corrosion, bad crimping, improperly seated terminals or damage. Repair or replace, as necessary. Reconnect harness connectors and re-attempt QUICK TEST QT-7Β  .
