Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Continuous Memory Codes (Soft Faults)
These are soft fault codes that are used to diagnose intermittent problems. They indicate a fault that may or may not be present at the time of testing. Continuous Memory Codes are retrieved during the KOEO Self-Test. Some codes may illuminate the CHECK ENGINE or SERVICE ENGINE SOON light. The corresponding soft trouble code, will be retained in the ECA memory. If the fault does not reoccur within 40 warm-up cycles (80 cycles on some models), the code will automatically be cleared by the ECA.
Service codes may be cleared from memory by the technician. See CLEARING CODES. Intermittent faults may be caused by sensor, connector or wiring related problems. See INTERMITTENTS in H - "Engine Type" TESTS W/O CODES article.
