Idle Speed Control Servo (2.0L)

Idle speed control servo is located on throttle body. When ignition switch is in ON position, operating sound of stepper motor should be heard over sound of idle speed control servo. If no operating sound is heard, check stepper motor circuit. If circuit is good, stepper motor or ECU is suspect.
Disconnect idle speed control servo connector and measure resistance between terminals 2 and 3. See Fig 1. Resistance should be 28-33 ohms at 68°F (20°C). Measure resistance between terminals 5 and 6. Resistance should be 28-33 ohms at 68°F (20°C). Measure resistance between terminals 5 and 4. Resistance should be 28-33 ohms at 68°F (20°C).

Check stepper motor operation. Remove throttle body and stepper motor. See Fig 2. Apply 6 volt positive lead to terminals 2 and 5 of connector. See Fig 3. Connect negative lead to terminals as outlined in TEST SEQUENCE table.
