Checking Fuel Pressure

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove fuel tank filler cap to relieve fuel tank pressure. Replace fuel tank filler cap. Place shop towels around quick-disconnect fitting to absorb spilled fuel.
  2. Disconnect Black fuel supply tube from fuel rail using Fuel Line Disconnect (6182). See Fig 1 . Slide fuel line disconnect over nipple and up into connector until handle fits connector. Pull fuel supply tube off fuel rail.
  3. Install Fuel Tube Adapter (6175) between Black fuel supply line and fuel rail. Attach 0-60 psi Fuel Pressure Gauge (5069) on port of fuel tube adapter. Start engine. Check fuel pressure. Fuel pressure should be 43 psi (3.0 kg/cm2 ). Fuel pressure regulator is not adjustable.
NOTE: The fuel system uses a fuel pump with a maximum output of 135 psi (9.5 kg/cm2 ). Pressure is regulated at fuel rail by fuel pressure regulator.
