Oxygen Sensor (2.0L)
- Oxygen sensor is located at outlet of exhaust manifold or turbocharger. Warm engine until coolant temperature reaches 185-205Β°F (85-95Β°C).
- Disconnect oxygen sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between oxygen sensor terminals No. 1 and 4. See Fig 1 .
- A cold oxygen sensor should read approximately 12 ohms resistance with an oxygen sensor temperature 68Β°F (20Β°C). A hot oxygen sensor should read 30 ohms or more resistance with an oxygen sensor temperature of 752Β°F (400Β°C).
- If oxygen sensor resistance is not within specification, repalce oxygen sensor. If resistance is okay, go to next step.CAUTION: Damage to oxygen sensor may result if battery voltage is applied to wrong oxygen sensor terminals.
- Apply battery voltage across oxygen sensor terminals No. 3 and 4. Connect a digital voltmeter ot oxygen sensor terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 1 .
- With engine running at more than 1300 RPM, measure oxygen sensor output voltage. Output voltage should be approximately one volt. If output voltage is not within specification, replace oxygen sensor.
